Poland Community Church functions based on the works of 9 committees. The responsibilities of each committee is briefly outlined below:The DiaconateThe deacons assist the minister in worship, including, ushering, preparing and serving communion, serving those in need. The Deacons meet monthly, usually the second Sunday after church. Two deacons are assigned to cover the worship, fellowship hour, and communion services each month. Also, with the minister, special services are planned (Christmas, Lent, Easter.) Elected for four year terms. Cannot be reelected for one period following a term of four years. Members serve on the Standing Committee.The TrusteesElected to five year terms, one each year. Having served five year term they must rotate off for at least one year. They are custodians of church property, all trusts, and permanent funds of the church. Together with the Treasurer, Ast. Treasurer, and the Stewardship Mission Committee shall recommend an annual budget to the Standing Committee. A chairperson is elected by the Committee. All are members of the Standing Committee.Christian EducationAlthough the position of Christian Education Coordinator is not currently in the by laws, this position is central to CE. Currently there is no indication in by laws about how these persons are elected or any length of term. Bylaws specify three or more persons.Stewardship - MissionThis committee is composed of three members at large, a representative from the Board of Trustees, the Deaconate, the Christian Ed. Committee, the Treasurer and the Pastor. The duties include identifying resources, human, spiritual, and material, and carrying on the church’s mission locally and worldwide. Terms: three years rotating.Pastoral RelationsIs made up of three members: One appointed by the Pastor, One by the Standing Committee, and One by at large Standing Committee Members. Six monthly Pastoral Reviews as well as Reviews called by either the Pastor or the Committee Members.Standing CommitteeMade up of the Pastor, Deacons (8), Trustees (5), Treasurer, Assistant Treasurer, Moderator, Clerk, Two Financial Secretaries, and Chairpersons of all permanent Committees of the Church Chairpersons of all permanent Committees of the Church. Christian Ed, Pastoral Relations, Stewardship Mission, At large. Note: This makes 25 persons on Standing CommitteeFlower CommitteeThe bylaws do not mention the Flower Committee. The Appendix includes a page and 1/2 description of its work. There is a $1,000 bequest that is to be managed. No mention of term or how chosen.EvangelismNo mention of this committee in the Bylaws.Nominating CommitteeChosen by the moderator at least 45 days prior to the Annual Meeting, or at any time needed to fill a vacancy.PCC By-Laws
